On top of Aratakiyama, 456 meters above sea level, this spot
was reserved as a fire-based beacon site during the Edo Era.
Now an official monument, a statue of the Meiji Emperor
looks out over the mountains. From this high point, the Seto
Inland Sea to the south and Houben-zan of Yamaguchi prefecture
to the north is visible.
